About

This site is part of Telecare Aware News Network, an offshoot of Telecare Aware, which has been providing a specialised, free news and information service since 2005 to people interested in telecare and telehealth. Its purpose is to help suppliers and service providers around the world keep up to date with what each other are doing. It has been growing steadily – by word of mouth – for the past few years. Run by volunteers, it is an independent service without allegiances, except to its readers.

With a background in Engineering and Executive level Administration I am perhaps not the most obvious candidate to be working in the Care Sector.  My engineering experience however, including both R&D and Construction site work, combined with organisational and planning skills offer Project Management for any sector.

My role, as Telecare Project Coordinator, is to develop a strategy that will mainstream Telecare for our citizens and link to a developing Telehealth strategy.  I find myself immersed in IRF, ICM, Change Fund, Enablement and Personalisation.  The most rewarding aspect of my role though is meeting practitioners, carers and service users, who are mystified by the technology, and sharing its possibilities and benefits with them.

When I am not at work I am enjoying the company of a puppyish 7 year old pooch, walking in rural Scotland, taking photographs or doing something arty on one of several art/craft online communities I contribute to.

I aim to catch as many interesting items as I can and to try and keep an updated list of forthcoming events – please feel free to contact me if you have a news item you think would be of interest to others, or if you are participating in an event that we all need to share.
